Saga Communications' Rock outlet WNOR (FM99) in Norfolk-Virginia Beach wrapped up its 38th Annual Rock and Roll Up Your Sleeve Blood Drive with 612 units of blood collected over the three-day event-meeting the American Red Cross' goal.
Held each July during a time when blood supplies are traditionally low, the drive encouraged FM99 listeners to "drain their veins" in partnership with the Coastal Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross. The donations have the potential to save more than 1,780 lives.
FM99 PM Drive host Nick Pearl was among the donors at the event, continuing the station's longstanding tradition of encouraging community support through blood donation.
"The generosity of our listeners and clients helps the Red Cross meet the needs of our local community," said WNOR Operations Manager Mike Beck. "We thank everyone who participated and helped make a lifesaving difference."
