iHeartMedia, Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network, and SmartLess Media, in collaboration with Campside Media, have unveiled a new comedy true-crime podcast titled "CrimeLess." The anthology series breaks down wild real-life crimes each week, combining humor and investigation to answer the questions listeners might be too embarrassed to ask.
The series kicks off with "Hillbilly Heist," an eight-part special hosted by Johnny Knoxville, available October 15 exclusively on the iHeartRadio app. The show will later post weekly on Wednesdays across other podcast platforms. The story revisits the real-life saga of David Ghantt, a small-town security guard who, along with a group of ill-prepared accomplices, managed to pull off the second-largest bank heist in U.S. history.
"If there is one thing I love in life it's shortsighted criminals who have absolutely no business in the robbery game," said Knoxville. "They aren't bad people, they are just bad at planning, worse at execution, and the worst at the cover up afterwards."
Following "Hillbilly Heist," "CrimeLess" will continue beginning December 10 with weekly anthology episodes hosted by comedian Rory Scovel and journalist Josh Dean. Each episode will explore a new outrageous crime-from heists and scams to "monkey gang wars"-offering a comedic yet surprisingly insightful take on the strange world of criminal misadventures.
"We're thrilled to team up with SmartLess Media for the first time and continue collaborating with Campside on such a unique and hilarious project," said Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts.
"CrimeLess" is distributed by iHeartPodcasts and available on the iHeartRadio app and wherever podcasts are heard.
