KUNV 91.5 FM in Las Vegas is celebrating its 45th anniversary, highlighting decades of student-driven broadcasting while nearing its fundraising goal during its Spring Membership Drive.

The station, licensed to University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is approaching its $45,000 target, boosted by a special live broadcast of its longest-running program, "The Lyons Den." The event raised more than $10,000 in four hours to support station operations.

KUNV first signed on April 21, 1981, making it one of Southern Nevada's earliest public radio outlets. Originally operated entirely by students, the station has since evolved into a professional broadcast operation while maintaining its educational mission of training future media professionals.

Over the years, KUNV has produced a range of programming, including the long-running "Rock Avenue," and has established itself as a prominent smooth jazz station. Its current format has earned national recognition, including being named Local Radio Station of the Year by Beats Magazine in 2022, 2024 and 2025.

"Reaching 45 years is a testament to the dedication of our students, staff, alumni, and community supporters," said Operations Manager Jason Beatty. "This station has always been about opportunity, creativity, and connection-and we're proud to continue that legacy."

As the anniversary drive continues, KUNV remains focused on sustaining its programming and community outreach while building on more than four decades of service to the Las Vegas area.
