NYPR Names Sharma, Christner, Cohen to Leadership

New York Public Radio has appointed three executives to its leadership team, naming Ru Sharma as Chief People Officer, Emily Christner as Chief Growth and Engagement Officer, and Patti Cohen as Senior Vice President of Analytics, Insights and Research.
The appointments are effective immediately and support NYPR's operations across its portfolio, which includes WNYC, WQXR, WNYC Studios, Gothamist, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space and New Jersey Public Radio.
President and CEO Christy Tanner said the new leaders will play key roles in strengthening the organization's strategy and expanding its impact locally and globally.
Sharma brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources across sectors including technology, media and finance, with previous roles at Amazon Web Services, Bloomberg L.P., Universal Standard and Achievement First. She will oversee NYPR's people strategy.
Christner, also with more than two decades of experience, has held leadership positions at Lionsgate, CBS Interactive, Trusted Media Brands and 3C Ventures. She will focus on audience growth and engagement initiatives.
Cohen joins with over 30 years of experience in broadcast and digital media, most recently serving as SVP of Research for CBS Television Stations and CBS Media Ventures. She will lead a newly established Analytics, Insights and Research function across the organization.
