Report: Smith Buys Chicago Translator for $4.6M

Calvary Radio Network has agreed to sell Religious 2-watt translator W264BF-FM for a whopping $4.6 million to Integrity Radio Communications, owned by former veteran radio programmer Elroy Smith, reports Chicagoland Radio and Media. W264BF was originally owned by CSN International, who built the translator in June 2004, and then moved it to the Sears/Willis Tower in June, 2007. Calvary then acquired W264BF in July, 2008, as part of a deal for $1.8 million, including 50 stations and translators.
The FCC says that W264BF, which also has a CP to increase to 10 watts on 100.7, will not will not interfere with WRXQ-FM (QRock 100.7) in the southern suburbs, WBYT-FM (B100) in northwest Indiana or WKKV-FM (V100.7)/Milwaukee.
According to documents filed with the FCC, Integrity Radio Communications plans on simulcasting WILV-FM/Chicago's or one of its HD Radio channels, on on W264BF.
Smith most recently served as Radio One's Director of Inspirational Programming and Operations Manager of its cluster in Philadelphia. The veteran programmer added the format director duties in July, 2009. Previously, he programmed the cluster's Urban WPHI-FM (100.3 The Beat). Prior to his move to Philadelphia in 2007, Smith was OM of Clear Channel's Urban WGCI-FM and OM/PD of Urban AC WVAZ-FM (V103)/Chicago.
Smith joined WGCI as PD in 1992, adding similar duties at WVAZ in October, 2000. He's also programmed the company's Black Gospel WPZE-FM/Charlotte and Gospel WPPZ-FM (Praise 103.9) and Urban AC WRNB-FM/Philadelphia.
