The new FMR Associates/Eastlan National Radio Listening Study, conducted annually from March to October, shows weekly AM/FM listening in 2023 among adults ages 25-64 remains strong at 86%, unchanged from 2022. The consistent listenership spans across different demographics, including age, sex, market rank and geographic region, highlighting radio's enduring appeal. The study surveyed 1,500 adults and showed stability in traditional radio listening, when some audio sources declined.
Significantly, cume listening is strong and consistent regardless of age, sex, market rank or geographic region.
Weekly AM-FM Radio Listening is well ahead of other audio options. In an environment of audio choice, radio remains the clear preference and listening is stable, not declining.
2023 was the first year in a decade that podcast listening did not go up. Weekly Podcast listening in 2022 was at 25% and 24% in 2023, statistically unchanged.
