Kyle Bauer's Kansas Broadcasting Company has placed the winning bid in the backruptcy auction of Rocking M Media. KBC beat out two other suitors and will acquire ten stations for $2.845 million. Bauer is CEO and General Manager of Taylor Communications, which owns KFRM (Farm 550) in Salina, KS and KCLY in Clay Center, KS. Bauer was the only entity to offer to buy all ten outlets. Included in the deal are following stations:
- Country KWGB (Flyover Country 97.9), Hot AC KRDQ (100.3 The Ride) and Classic Country KXXX in Colby, KS.
- Regional Mexican KZRD (La Mexicana 93.9), Classic Hits KAHE (Superhits 95.5), Classic Country KERP (96.3 The Marshall) and Classic Country KGNO (Farm 1370) in Dodge City, KS
- Classic Rock KKCI (102.5 U-Rock) and KLOE (Fox Sports 730) in Liberal, KS
- Regional Mexican KSMM (La Mexicana 101.5) in Goodland, KS
Bauer stated, "We are so happy to have gotten the opportunity to buy these two clusters of stations. The markets they serve are growing populations in strong retail trade communities. We are not planning large changes, just building on the base that is there."
Rocking M Media, previously owned by Monte and Doris Miller, originally filed for Chapter 11 protection in March, 2022 claiming $1.3 million is assets and $22.36 million in liabilities owed between its four holding companies. The company divested the first twelve stations in 2022 for $1.988 million.
A February 15 court date has been set to approve the auction, but is seen as only a formality.
