In the latest monthly rankings for October 2024, released by Podtrac, the podcast industry continues to show robust growth, with increases in unique monthly audience (UMA) figures and downloads across the board for the majority of U.S. publishers. Podtrac reported that nearly all U.S. ranking participants saw a rise in their UMA, with only two publishers experiencing a decline compared to September 2024. Downloads also increased for most, with only three out of the ranked participants seeing a decrease month-over-month.

The Top 20 U.S. Podcasts list reveals a stable market with minimal position changes among the leading names. "The Daily" by The New York Times continues to lead the pack, holding its number one spot firmly with no change in its ranking. Noteworthy shifts include "Shawn Ryan Show" by Cumulus Podcast Network, which climbed three spots, and "Today, Explained" by Vox Media, which moved up by four spots.

On the publisher side, iHeart Audience Network topped the chart with a staggering 71.5 million unique listeners and over 376 million streams and downloads, maintaining its position as a powerhouse in the podcast industry. Close on its heels, iHeartPodcasts and Lisbyn showed significant audience engagement, solidifying their spots in the top rankings.

Global networks also saw growth, with almost all top networks reporting an increase in downloads, streams, and views internationally, indicating a strong global appetite for podcast content.
