Whitney Young Exits WPXY/Rochester Over ''Pay Disparity''

WPXY-FM (98PXY)/Rochester morning co-host Whitney Young exits the Entercom CHR outlet over a pay disparity with her co-host. In a post on Twitter she indicated that her co-host Corey James' salary was "nearly double" of her own. "I was unable to negotiate a raise that would reduce the pay disparity. This inequality is in conflict with my most deeply held beliefs," she wrote.

Young did praise James as "a good friend, a talented showman, a dependable colleague, and fully deserving of his salary," but added she has "no idea what I'm going to do next... Walking away from a stable paycheck is risky at best and stupid at worst. But for me it was necessary."

Young joined WPXY in November, 2018 as morning co-host teaming with James, weekdays from 5:30-10am. She returned to WPXY for middays in 2017, before joining the WPXY morning show in an interim basis the previous May. Before that, Young served as social media producer and on-camera personality for Hearst brands such as Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire and Seventeen.
