Alpha Media Chicagoland's WCCQ-FM & WXLC-FM (Free Country @ 98-3 and 102-3) is the latest addition to its radio lineup, "Lon Helton's Country Countdown USA." With over three decades in country music reporting and charting, Lon Helton brings his expertise and passion for the genre to Chicagoland listeners. The "Country Countdown USA" delivers the hottest tracks, interviews with top country artists and insider insights into the latest trends shaping the country music scene.

"Lon is a Nashville legend and has deserved to be on the air in Chicago for years. It's a literal Free Country and we are glad to have him join our remarkable team," said Alpha Media Executive Vice President of Content Phil Becker.

"When we started to visualize the sound of this new station, Lon was my first and only choice for his phenomenal Country Countdown," added Assistant Content Director and Music Director Drew Walker. "I'm delighted to bring him home to our audience across Chicagoland. Lon's deep knowledge of country music and his engaging storytelling make this a perfect fit for our station. We're confident that listeners will love the show!"

Helton said, "It's great to be on the air where you grew up. I grew up in The Heights, which is close to Joliet," Lon enthused. "And to have Country Countdown USA back on the air in Chicagoland on FREE Country 98-3 and 102-3 is an absolute thrill."

"Lon Helton's Country Countdown" airs Sunday mornings from 6-9am.
