As Dave Luczak prepares to retire from morning radio at Saga Communications' WKLH (Classic Rock 96.5) in Milwaukee on December 20, the station has announced its new morning show lineup. Starting in January, current midday host and 40-year radio veteran Dave Coombs will step into the morning slot alongside co-hosts Dorene Michaels and Marcus Allen.

Coombs, who joined WKLH in December 2020, has juggled dual roles, hosting WKLH remotely while handling mornings at Saga co-owned Rock WLZX (Lazer 99.3 & 98.5) in Springfield, MA, until last April.

"When WKLH was looking for someone to fill Dave Luczak's shoes, I guess having the same first name helped," Coombs joked. "It's been an honor working with Dave for four of his 40-plus years on the air. The new morning show will feature many of the elements listeners love, along with some fresh surprises. We're excited to bring WKLH listeners into the mix as we launch this next chapter of Milwaukee morning radio."

WKLH Brand Manager Borna Velic praised Luczak's legacy while expressing confidence in the station's future. "Dave Luczak has had an extraordinary career, setting the gold standard for Milwaukee broadcasting. We wish him all the best in retirement. At the same time, we're excited to have Dave Coombs bring his extensive experience and enthusiasm to the morning show. With Dorene and Marcus, I know they'll deliver the engaging content our audience expects."

Coombs has built a four-decade career in morning radio, with stints on WCMF's "Brother Wease Show" in Rochester (1984-1986), WBOS in Boston (1986-1987), and WQBK in Albany (1988-1990). He also spent five years at WAQX in Syracuse (1990-1995) and two decades at WTKW in Syracuse (1995-2015) before joining WLZX and WLZW (Lite 98.7) in Utica-Rome.
