The San Antonio Spurs tap veteran broadcaster Dan Weiss to become the team's new radio play-by-play voice beginning with the 2025-26 NBA season. Weiss, who joined Spurs Sports & Entertainment in 2009, succeeds longtime broadcaster Bill Schoening, who retired following the 2024-25 campaign.

Weiss has served the past seven years as studio host for Spurs Television's pregame and postgame coverage. A native of Weston, Massachusetts, and a graduate of Northeastern University, he began his tenure with SS&E as the play-by-play announcer for the San Antonio Rampage hockey team, a role he held until 2018. During that time, he received the James H. Ellery Award for outstanding coverage of the American Hockey League in 2013-14 and was selected to join NHL Network's broadcast of the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic. He also contributed to broadcasts for the Austin Spurs and the San Antonio Stars.

Before arriving in San Antonio, Weiss built an extensive broadcasting career that included stops with the Phoenix Mercury, Phoenix Roadrunners, Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, and Corpus Christi Ice Rays. In 2005-06, he was named the ECHL's Broadcaster of the Year.

"Dan has the experience and knowledge to seamlessly carry the tradition of excellence Bill built over two decades," said Mike Kickirillo, Senior Director of Broadcast at SS&E. "He's been a beloved piece of the Spurs fan experience for years now, and we're excited for Dan to make this new role his own."

Weiss acknowledged the significance of the position, noting, "It is an honor and a privilege to wear the headset that only six people have worn since the Spurs arrived in 1973. From Terry Stembridge to Bill Schoening, Spurs radio has established a legacy and tradition of excellence in both our community and around the world that I look forward to continuing."

All Spurs games will continue to air on WOAI 1200-AM with Weiss on play-by-play.
