RADIO ONLINE | Saturday, December 21, 2024 |
Veteran sports radio personality Howard Eskin is parting ways with SportsRadio 94WIP in Philadelphia after a notable 38-year tenure. Eskin, a pioneering voice, was instrumental in steering WIP into its current Sports/Talk format when he first graced the airwaves in 1986. He continued his influential presence by transitioning with the station to the 94.1 FM frequency in 2011 and later, hosting a Saturday morning show. Additionally, Eskin has been a familiar sideline reporter for Philadelphia Eagles broadcasts.
Eskin announced his departure via social media, expressing gratitude towards his listeners and looking ahead to future endeavors. "After 38 years, I am moving on from SportsRadio WIP, where I launched the station's sports talk franchise in 1986," he wrote. "I leave the station with great affection for the listeners who have made the work I do so fulfilling during my time there. I'm looking forward to what comes next career-wise. I promise you'll be the first to know. Thank you."
A spokesperson from Audacy, the parent company of WIP, acknowledged Eskin's departure, stating, "WIP and Howard Eskin have parted ways. We thank Howard for his years of contributions to WIP."
