Detrow Named Weekday Host of ''All Things Considered''

NPR names Scott Detrow as the fulltime weekday host of "All Things Considered" starting September 29. He will continue in his role as host of NPR's daily news podcast "Consider This." Detrow has been weekend host of All Things Considered since May 2023, where he has helped guide listeners through some of the most significant news events of the past two years.

Detrow's live coverage of the attempted assassination of President Trump in Butler, PA, earned an Edward R. Murrow Award for Breaking News. Earlier this year, he anchored coverage from St. Peter's Square during the conclave that elected Pope Leo, the first American pope, and is now co-authoring a forthcoming biography of Pope Leo with NPR religion editor Daniel Burke.

"I'm really excited and honored to step into this role," said Detrow. "I'm mindful of just how important All Things Considered's legacy is for listeners, and I also know just how much I've loved working with the show's team these past two years on weekends. I can't wait to bring listeners the news five days a week now."

Detrow joined NPR in 2015, covering the White House, Congress, and two presidential campaigns. He co-hosted the NPR Politics Podcast for seven years. Prior to his national reporting, he worked at member stations WITF in Pennsylvania and KQED in California, and was part of NPR's StateImpact project, where his reporting on Pennsylvania's fracking boom earned both a DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton and a Murrow Award in 2013.
