Vicky Moore Departs KNX After Nearly 22 Years

After more than two decades as one of Southern California's most familiar news voices, Vicky Moore is departing KNX News in Los Angeles. The longtime morning and midday anchor departed the Audacy all-News outlet on Friday, ending a nearly 22-year run with the station.

In a staff memo, Market Manager and Senior Vice President Chris Ebbott praised Moore's enduring impact on KNX listeners. "Over more than two decades, she has been a trusted and familiar voice to listeners across Southern California," he wrote. "She has helped our community navigate and make sense of everything from wildfires and pandemics to historic elections and championship seasons - and that's just this past year."

Moore most recently co-anchored the KNX morning news block from 6-10am alongside Mike Simpson, followed by a solo hour from 10-11am. The pair teamed up in 2022 after the retirement of veteran anchor Dick Helton. Before joining KNX, Moore spent 11 years as a reporter and anchor at KFI-AM 640 and previously worked at KFBK in Sacramento.

During her on-air farewell Friday morning, Moore reflected on the power of radio and its place in a divided, hyper-connected world. "I really love radio, because radio is about community," she said. "At a time when the phone in our pocket...creates distance between us, and the politics divide us, and the AI has us questioning what is real, the people here at K and X...are real, and they are people who live and work in this community."

"It has been my privilege to be part of this community and to tell you stories about things that matter, as well as the things that might just brighten your day," she added. "We've had so much fun."

Margaret Carrero, a 12-year KNX veteran with previous stops at KRAK Sacramento and KMJ Fresno, will step into the morning anchor role following Moore's departure.
