Centennial Broadcasting has named longtime Fredericksburg radio personality Trapper Young as the new morning host of Classic Hits WGRQ-FM (95.9 The Goat) in Fredericksburg, VA. Young officially launched the "Trapper In The Morning Show" after concluding a 29-year run in afternoons on sister WBQB (B101.5), where he signed off June 26. His new weekday shift airs from 5-10am.
"While it's a bit harder to wake up several hours earlier than most, I'm excited to take on this new challenge on 95-9 The Goat," Young said. "This is a chance for me to form relationships with a new audience or perhaps an audience who heard me play these songs on B101.5 through the decades."
Chuck "Archer" Miller, Operations Manager for Centennial Broadcasting, said Young's familiarity with the market made him a natural choice for mornings.
"We believe this is a fantastic move for Trapper and he'll be the perfect fit as morning host on 95-9 The Goat," Miller said. "Trapper's voice has been a consistent presence in Fredericksburg and the region for nearly 30 years and now he'll have the opportunity to take on a bigger role on 95-9 The Goat's lead daypart."
Young succeeds longtime morning host Dave Adler, who exited the station in May.
