iHeartMedia New York has signed veteran personality Mark Simone to a new long-term agreement that will keep him on 710 WOR while expanding his weekday program by an hour. Under the new deal, The Mark Simone Show will air weekdays from 9am to noon, growing from its current two-hour format. Simone has been a fixture on the station for nearly 14 years.

"Mark Simone is one of the most talented and respected broadcasters in America," said Tom Cuddy, Program Director for 710 WOR. "His ability to inform, entertain and connect with listeners is unmatched. Expanding his show by an additional hour is a win for our audience, our advertisers and the station."

Simone joked about the earlier start time, saying, "I'm not exactly an early riser, so this will take a little getting used to. But the demand for this was overwhelming, from the audience and the advertisers. The first rule of mass media is to give the people what they want, so I'm honored and happy to do it."

The move creates a consistent three-hour morning lineup on the News/Talk outlet, with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning airing from 6-9am, followed by The Mark Simone Show from 9am-noon.

"Mark Simone is 'Mr. New York' for a reason," said Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia. "His extraordinary connection with listeners combined with his ability to inform, entertain and engage audiences, has made him one of the most respected voices in talk radio. We're thrilled to extend our partnership and continue delivering value to listeners, advertisers and 710 WOR."
