WALJ-FM/Tuscaloosa AL Relaunches as ''105.1 The Block''

WALJ-FM

Following Townsquare Media's purchase of Urban WALJ-FM (105.1 Jamz) in Tuscaloosa, the station has been relaunched as "105.1 The Block." The new outlet will air Reach Media's syndicated "Rickey Smiley Morning Show" and Ally "The Pub" Washington will handle middays. She most recently held similar duties at Radio One's WGPR-FM/Detroit. Additions to the on-air lineup will be announced soon.

Assistant OM/PD Mary K Schmitt said, "I am very excited about launching WALJ under the Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa umbrella, where we have a local-first focus. The WALJ signal will once again have a local connection to the city of Tuscaloosa and I am thrilled to launch 105.1 The Block to reflect the lifestyle and tastes of the Tuscaloosa millennial."
