WRMF/West Palm Beach's "The KVJ Show" doubled its original goal and raised $200,000 in donations to help the relief efforts in the Bahamas, after a 48-hour radiothon. To aid in the recovery effort, the KVJ Show broadcast from 6am on Wednesday, September 11 until 10am on Friday, September 13. Donations go directly to rebuilding West End, the oldest community on Grand Bahama, through a partnership with 501c3, Little Smiles.
"When you live in the Caribbean, you are family, even if you're not in the same country. We both enjoy the beauty and devastation of our climate. What the Bahamas has gone through is unfathomable and unprecedented, but they will not go through it alone" said Kevin Rolston, host of the KVJ Show. The KVJ Show & Hubbard Radio will be with the Bahamas as they rebuild back to being even stronger than they were before."
Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach Senior VP/Market Manager Elizabeth Hamma added, "I am extremely proud of what the KVJ/WRMF/Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach Team has accomplished. It's a testament to the power of live and local radio and a beautiful illustration of what an extremely dedicated team that cares about the community they serve can accomplish, in just 48 hours. Thank you to the entire KVJ team and to their generous listeners for they are the true heroes in this endeavor. Our hearts continue to be with our neighbors in the Bahamas."
