Cox Media Group/Tulsa is helping the Oklahoma Blood Institute after several cancelled blood drives have resulted in a critical blood shortage. KOKI-TV (FOX23), KRAV-FM (Mix 96.5), KWEN-FM (K95.5), KJSR-FM (103.3 The Eagle) and KWEN-FM-HD2 (105.7 The Bone) are promoting the drive with the Oklahoma Pork Council that starts Thursday, May 21, and runs through May 22. The Oklahoma Blood Institute depends on 1,200 donors per day to supply the 160 hospitals, medical facilities, and air ambulances they support across Oklahoma.

"The COVID-19 outbreak has left many people in a place where they want to help others, but are not sure what to do," says Cox Media Group Market Vice President Cathy Gunther. "This is it. The Oklahoma Blood Institute and the patients they serve are relying on the generosity of donors in Green Country to get out and donate in this critical time."

All donors will receive a choice of one admission to Science Museum Oklahoma or two admissions to Safari Joe's H2O Water Park, a pulled pork sandwich and a limited-edition pork council t-shirt. Donors will also be entered to win a new smoker.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute assures all potential donors that all CDC social distancing guidelines will be upheld. Learn more at mix965tulsa.com.
