The Chicago White Sox and News/Talk WGN-AM/Chicago name Andy Masur as the MLB team's radio play-by-play voice for the 2020 season. He replaces Ed Farmer who died on April 1 at age 70 after battling kidney disease. Masur joins analyst Darrin Jackson on WGN and the White Sox Radio Network. He served as the pre-game host for the White Sox in 2018 and 2019. Masur was a pre-game and post-game host for Chicago Cubs baseball on WGN from 1999 to 2007. He called San Diego Padres games for seven seasons (2007-13) before returning to WGN in 2014.
"I am truly honored and humbled to join my friend Darrin Jackson in the White Sox radio booth this season," Masur told the Chicago Sun-Times. "Many people before me have said legends cannot be replaced, and the great Ed Farmer is truly irreplaceable. As a fellow Chicagoan, I hope my passion for the city and the game of baseball connects with White Sox fans in a way that Ed would be proud. I want to thank the White Sox and WGN Radio for this fantastic opportunity."
