Benztown Offers Audio Tribute to Earl Simmons aka DMX
RADIO ONLINE | Friday, April 9, 2021 |
Benztown is offering an audio tribute to Earl Simmons, the rapper better known as DMX, who died Friday at age 50, one week after suffering a heart attack. DMX died at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY. The tribute to DMX was written by Bill Royal, voiced by Kenny Smoov and produced by Tom Baker.
DMX, born on December 18, 1970, in Mount Vernon, NY, was one of the most successful hardcore rappers ever to cross over to mainstream audiences. His arrival to the music scene in the mid-90's was concurrent with the birth of the global hip-hop phenomenon. DMX is best remembered for pairing an aggressive style with emotional sincerity that resonated broadly beyond his core audience. In the process, he revitalized the Def Jam label and also built an acting career starring in films including: Belly, Romeo Must Die, and Exit Wounds.
