Duane Shannon Named PD for WIXY and WYXY/Champaign

Duane Shannon

Former Country WGKX-FM (Kix 106)/Memphis morning hosts Duane Shannon (pictured) and wife Abby Summers join Saga's Country WIXY-FM/Champaign, IL for mornings. Additionally, Shannon will become Program Director for WIXY and co-owned Classic Country WYXY (Classic 99.1) replacing J.R. Gonzalez, who exited earlier this year.

Previously, Shannon was Program Director for Cumulus' WGKX-FM (KIX 106) and WKIM-FM (98.9 The Bridge) in Memphis. His career with the company spanned 16 years and included posts at stations in Chattanooga, Detroit, Toledo and Atlanta.

In a Facebook post, Shannon wrote, "We have found our own little piece of heaven in Central Illinois with a strong radio family and a legacy Country brand that has reinvigorated our love of the format... We are so excited to become part of this tightknit community; we feel like we have won the lottery."
