WABC-AM/New York taps Frank MacKay as President of WABC Radio's Long Island Division on AM 770 and WLIR-FM, beginning May 10. He's a former Chairman of the New York State Independence Party and longtime radio show host. Mackay, a longtime fixture on radio and television has conducted over 5,000 interviews with high-profile individuals, ranging from professional athletes and celebrities to Presidents of the U.S., Speakers of the House and Senate Majority Leaders.
After becoming involved in the independent Presidential candidacy of Ross Perot in 1992, MacKay was elected Chairman of the New York State Independence Party at age 32, the youngest ever in New York State history to serve as the Chairman of a State political party. He would be elected twelve times to the position, helping the Independence Party grow its influence and statewide prominence for three decades.
Red Apple Media and WABC Chairman/CEO John Catsimatidis said, "Frank MacKay has longstanding knowledge of Long Island media, government, and politics, which will be an asset to this station. We are excited to expand and enhance 77 WABC Radio's presence on Long Island."
Catsimatidis purchased WLIR to expand the reach of WABC Radio to the east end of Long Island in 2020. 77 WABC Radio has been on the airwaves in the tri-State area for the past 100 years.
