Veteran news anchor and reporter Bret Burkhart joins Audacy all News KCBS-AM in San Francisco as a news anchor. He previously spent the last 23 years at crosstown rival KGO-AM, most recently delivering the news during the station's morning and midday shows. Before that, he worked for News/Talk KPAY-AM in Chico, CA and KFBK in Sacramento.
During his career his sound-rich stories have gained national attention that garnered him an Edward R. Murrow Award. He has since gone on to win ten more and was named the Associated Press "Reporter of the Year" eight times, including five consecutively.
"We are incredibly fortunate that Bret is continuing his already illustrious career as an anchor for his hometown KCBS," said Audacy San Francisco Senior VP and Market Manager Stacey Kauffman. "He brings to KCBS a comprehensive and complex skill set that we will all benefit from. Bret knows politics, the Bay Area, what makes a good story and how to tell it, and we look forward to welcoming him aboard."
"KCBS is the gold standard for news around the Bay Area and beyond and I feel so fortunate to be joining an amazing group of broadcasters and storytellers," added Burkhart.
