iHeartMedia's Inspirational WHLH-FM (95.5 Hallelujah FM) and Hip Hop WJDX-FM (105.1 The Real) in Jackson, MS have announced the inaugural Sista Strut Jackson 3k Breast Cancer Walk which will take place Saturday, May 6, at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium. Sista Strut aims to heighten awareness about the issues of breast cancer in women of color, as well as provide information on community resources.

Sista Strut recognizes the strength of survivors, their family and friends, heightens awareness, promotes early detection and the search for a cure. Jackson's Inaugural Sista Strut Breast Cancer Walk will mirror the Memphis strut now in its ninth year, reaching over 7,000 people in attendance.

Sista Strut started originally in Detroit and has since spread to Milwaukee, St. Louis, Memphis, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Louisville, Jacksonville and Indianapolis.

Sista Strut Jackson will raise money for breast cancer research organization Fannie Lou Hammer House out of Ruleville, Mississippi. 95.5 Hallelujah FM and 105.1 The Real will promote the event on-air with tips and resources about breast cancer early detection and prevention.

"Sista Strut is an effort and offering of love," said 95.5 Hallelujah FM air personality Tracy Bethea, who is also and Program Director for 95.7 Hallelujah and WDIA in Memphis. "Our goal is to gather women from across the city sharing one goal - to heighten awareness of breast cancer within women of color in our communities. Sista ladies, it's time to get laced up."

Participants can register for Sista Strut Jackson at 95.5 Hallelujah FM and 105.1 The Real websites. Individual registration includes the Sista Strut t-shirt and backpack. Team Member registration includes the Sista Strut t-shirt, backpack, team souvenir, and the opportunity to take a team photo at the event.
