The Broadcasters Foundation of America announces Dan Mason, former CEO of CBS Radio and previous Chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation, is the recipient of this year's Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award. The award is bestowed annually on an individual in broadcasting whose work exemplifies innovation, community service, advocacy and entrepreneurship. Mason will be presented with the Award at the Broadcasters Foundation Breakfast on Wednesday, April 19 in Las Vegas.

"I'm honored to be recognized by the Broadcasters Foundation, a charity that I believe in very much," said Mason. "I've been so fortunate in many ways, and the opportunity to support the Foundation's mission as its Chairman, was one way of giving back to this industry that has given me so much."

"I worked with Dan for many years at CBS, and I am proud to call him a friend, colleague, and mentor," stated Broadcasters Foundation Chairman Scott Herman. "Dan is a great leader and a true champion for radio. It is our privilege to honor him."

Mason is a broadcasting executive and radio programmer known for initiating an aggressive growth strategy at CBS Radio, including launching new formats, acquiring major market properties and leading the way for the creation of CBS Sports Radio. He led the expansion of CBS Radio's digital presence with audio streaming platforms and mobile applications. Over the past few years he has expanded into the gaming industry, having been past chairman at VSIN (Vegas Stats and Information Network).

The Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award salutes its namesake and is underwritten by The Mays Family Foundation. Past recipients include Gordon Smith, Ajit Pai, Bill Clark, Eddie Fritts, Cathy Hughes, Mel Karmazin, Jeff Smulyan, Dick Wiley and others. As previously announced, the Broadcasters Foundation will present the Leadership in Broadcasting Awards during the Breakfast.
