Following the sudden death of Glenn Frey in 2016, Beasley Media WCSX-FM/Detroit's "Big Jim's House" Morning Show (Jim O'Brien and Ryan Logan) decided to honor Glenn in his hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan with the official unveiling of Glenn Frey Drive in the Motor City.
Fast forward to November 2022. After years of planning, Big Jim O'Brien and the Morning Show took their show on the road and traveled from Detroit to Winslow, AZ to deliver a Glenn Frey Drive Street sign to be permanently placed over Glenn's statue located at the corner best known as the inspiration for the hit song, "Take It Easy."
Big Jim is happy to report Winslow City dignitaries made it official last week with a special dedication of the sign.
"This road trip was something we'd planned for years," said Big Jim. "Inspired by Glenn and the amazing statue put there by our radio brothers and sisters at KSLX, it was truly an inspiration to everyone here at CSX."
"Glenn Frey Drive," along with "Bob Seger Boulevard" and "Alice Cooper Court" are landmarks created by WCSX-FM in the Motor City," said Beasley Media Group Vice President of National Content and Director of Detroit Programming Scott Jameson. "We're happy to see Glenn's' legacy extend west to Arizona from its original location where he attended school, Dondero High in Royal Oak, Michigan. Many thanks to KSLX Program Director David Moore and the Hubbard team in Phoenix for allowing CSX be part of this cool Classic Rock tribute to Glenn."
