The Broadcasters Foundation of America announces the return of broadcast journalist and syndicated talk host Soledad O'Brien as emcee of the BFOA 2024 Golden Mic Award gala, to be held Monday, March 4, at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the Broadcasters Foundation, whose sole mission is to provide aid to radio and television professionals in acute need. O'Brien first hosted the Golden Mic gala last year.
"Everyone wanted Soledad to come back for a second year," said Broadcasters Foundation Chair Scott Herman. "She is a well-known and highly respected broadcaster, and we are grateful that she is giving her time and talent to supporting our charitable mission."
Soledad currently hosts the syndicated "Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien," which is produced by Hearst Television. She has anchored shows on CNN, MSNBC and NBC, hosted projects for Fox and A&E, and contributed to Oxygen, Nat Geo, the PBS NewsHour and WebMD.
"The Broadcasters Foundation has an incredible impact on the people in our business who face serious illness or catastrophe and need help," noted Soledad. "I'm honored to lend my support as the host of their fundraising gala and to pay tribute to this year's award recipients."
As previously announced, this year's BFOA Golden Mic Award honoree will be Jordan Wertlieb, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hearst. The Edward F. McLaughlin Lifetime Achievment Award will be presented during the gala fundraiser to Deborah Norville, anchor of Inside Edition and 23-year member of the Broadcasters Foundation board of directors.
