Mean Green Hits, the student-run internet radio station at the University of North Texas (UNT), is celebrating its one-year anniversary. Since its launch on World College Radio Day on October 6, 2023, the station has quickly become a go-to source for Gen Z and Millennials at UNT, delivering a unique mix of hits from back in the day.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Mean Green Hits announces an update to its programming. The station will continue to embrace its roots as a Young Classics/Throwback station but will now place a stronger emphasis on CHR hits with its new "Throwback Top 40" format. This format will feature Top 40 hits from the Billboard charts, spanning from 1990 to 2019, offering a perfect blend of nostalgia and energy that resonates with today's students.

In addition to the format change, Mean Green Hits has announced its upcoming move to a brand-new studio on campus. This new space will provide enhanced facilities for students to create and broadcast their shows.

"Mean Green Hits has grown tremendously in its first year, and we're excited to continue that momentum with our new 'Throwback Top 40' focus and upcoming studio," said Program Director and Student Lead Justin Walters. "Our goal is to keep delivering great music while giving students even more opportunities to make their voices heard on campus. We can't wait to see where the next year takes us."

The one-year anniversary of Mean Green Hits will be on October 6, 2024, and details for its one-year anniversary party will be released soon.
