In a move to bolster its Spanish-language broadcast services, Urban One inks a new Local Management Agreement (LMA) with La Mega Media and Lazo Media. Beginning November 1, Urban One will assume ownership and/or operational responsibilities for multiple stations across Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. The network will broadcast on outlets including WJMO-AM in Cleveland, WWLG-FM & WWLA-FM in Columbus, WIZF-HD2 in Cincinnati and WHHH-HD2 in Indianapolis.
Claudia DeLeon (pictured), formerly the Chief Operating Officer at La Mega Media, has is appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Cleveland market, as well as the Head of Spanish Broadcast Operations for Urban One.
Urban One Audio Division Co-President Eddie Harrell, Jr. expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting, "We are thrilled to align with such a well-established brand in Ohio, one with a legacy of dedicated service to Hispanic communities in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati." He highlighted the strategic importance of adding the La Mega brand to Urban One's portfolio, enhancing its footprint and offerings in these key markets.
Radio One CEO David Kantor emphasized the initiative's alignment with the needs of Urban One's audience and the growing demand for culturally relevant programming. "Our goal is to deliver high-quality programming that reflects the vibrant and diverse lives of our listeners," said Kantor.
The transition involves discontinuing the La Grande brand and consolidating the Spanish-language media presence under the La Mega brand, alongside Telemundo television affiliates in Columbus and Indianapolis.
