Kay Manley, the Program Director and midday host of WGKX-FM (Kix 106) in Memphis, has announced her retirement from the Cumulus Country outlet, effective December 20. This date will also mark her last appearance on the air. Manley took on the role of Program Director in April, having previously served as the Assistant Program Director and Music Director at the station.
Beginning her broadcasting career in 1987, Manley has spent a notable portion of her career at Kix 106 since joining in 2005, and had a significant 15-year stint at AC WRVR.
Reflecting on her 40 years in the radio industry, including 36 years in leadership roles such as Music Director or Program Director, Manley expressed her gratitude: "After nearly 20 years at Kix 106 and 20 years of Kix on Beale, I am stepping down. Thank you for showing me such kindness and friendship since I started this crazy Country ride back in 2005 (wish I had started sooner). I have had a blast."
