iHeartMedia has unveiled the latest version of the iHeartRadio app featuring new, mobile capabilities and exclusive content. This significant update, the first of its kind since the app's 2011 debut, aims to blend the simplicity of traditional car radio with the advanced features of mobile streaming. The launch reflects iHeartMedia's ongoing commitment to enhance user experience based on substantial feedback from its extensive U.S. listener base.

"Our audience wants a streaming platform that combines the ease of car radio with the vast possibilities of digital technology," stated iHeartMedia Chairman and CEO Bob Pittman. "This new iHeartRadio app does precisely that, and we're thrilled to introduce it just in time for the holiday season."

The redesigned app introduces several features:

  • Presets: A first in the audio industry, allowing users to save and quickly access up to 15 favorite stations, playlists, or podcasts.

  • Scan Button: Offers a novel way to explore and sample radio stations nationwide, with filters for city and genre.

  • Live Radio Dial: Mimics traditional car radio dials but with added functionality for genre and location-based discovery.

  • What's Trending Rankers: A real-time feature showing what other users are tuning into, from podcasts to playlists.

  • Lyrics: iHeartRadio now provides lyrics for live radio tracks and karaoke-style lyric following for playlist songs.

The app also grants access to exclusive editorial content from iHeartMedia stations, including the latest artist news, interviews, and special contests, enhancing the overall listener experience.

iHeart Digital Audio Group CEO Conal Byrne emphasized that the app is designed to "build companionship and connection through audio." He added, "This update marries the familiarity of car radio with the excitement of digital discovery, available anywhere, anytime."

The rollout of the new iHeartRadio app starts today and will be accessible to all users on Android and iOS platforms by December 17. Users can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
