Southern Colorado Duo to Go Dark in January
RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, December 24, 2024 |
KRLN-AM (1400) and KSTY-FM (Star Country 104.5) will cease operations and go dark on January 1, 2025, parent company Royal Gorge Broadcasting has announced. The stations, which serve Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and communities along the U.S. 50 corridor, have been staples in the region.
In a heartfelt message on KSTY's Facebook page, the management cited a decision by the stations' Nebraska-based owners to shut down operations. "We are profoundly grateful to our clients and listeners who have supported local radio over the years," the post read. "It's been a remarkable journey, and although it's painful to say goodbye, we are hopeful that with change comes new beginnings."
KSTY, known for extending its reach to Colorado Springs with an FM Booster 17 years ago, recently had its license cancelled as the stations refocused their efforts on local broadcasting.
