Rubber City Radio Group is set to mark a significant milestone as 97.5 WONE-FM, Akron's heritage rock station, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary on January 1, 2025. Known as "The Home of Rock & Roll," WONE-FM has aired a Rock format since it switched from easy listening on January 1, 1985.
The station will kick off its 40th anniversary celebrations at noon ET on the very day of the anniversary, mirroring its original sign-on time back in 1985. The current morning show duo, Spatz & Amanda (Matt Spatz and Amanda Casey), will host a special countdown of the 40 favorite songs from the past four decades, as chosen by WONE listeners.
The countdown will feature not only music but also shared memories and highlights from current and former air personalities. The broadcast will also pay homage to notable musicians from Northeast Ohio, celebrating the region's rich musical heritage.
