Todd Nixon Exits KBEQ/Kansas City as PD/Morning Host

Todd Nixon is stepping down as Program Director and morning host at Steel City Media Country KBEQ-FM (Q104) in Kansas City, a role he has held since joining the station in January 2017. Nixon, who began as PD and midday host, transitioned to the morning slot last January alongside Jenny Matthews. Before his tenure at KBEQ, Nixon's radio career included programming roles at WYZB in Fort Walton Beach, KRMD-FM in Shreveport, WCKT in Fort Myers, WCTQ in Sarasota, WTQR in Greensboro and WNCB in Raleigh.

Nixon's venture into station ownership began in 2023 with the creation of Sticks Media, which acquired and relaunched 1410 KTNK & 103.7 K279CY in Lompoc, CA as Classic Country "Y'all 103.7." Nixon is also in the process of purchasing Classic Hits WLGR (93.5 Lake FM) in Warrensburg/Glens Falls, NY.

In a Facebook post, Nixon shared his reasons for leaving KBEQ, citing industry-wide budget cuts as a factor. "Today, I had to say goodbye to the mighty KBEQ Q104. While it's a difficult moment, my overwhelming feeling is gratitude," he wrote. Nixon expressed appreciation for his nine years at the station, the personal and professional growth he experienced, and the relationships he formed.

Nixon also extended his thanks to his Q104 team and to Jenny Matthews for reigniting his passion for on-air work, describing their collaboration as an "absolute blast." He concluded by affirming his commitment to the radio industry and the special connections it fosters, inviting others to continue building something remarkable together.
