FCC Chairman Brendan Carr Announces Staff Appointments

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr today announced several important appointments to the Office of the Chairman and various FCC departments. These appointments underscore a significant enhancement in the leadership team at the FCC, bringing in a wealth of experience and expertise from various sectors of the telecommunications industry and government.
Scott Delacourt has been named Chief of Staff for the FCC. He will be responsible for directing strategic initiatives and overseeing the agency's policy and operations. Delacourt joins the FCC from Wiley Rein LLP, where he chaired the Wireless Practice Group. His previous roles within the FCC included Deputy Bureau Chief and Chief of Staff of the Wireless Bureau.
Greg Watson will serve as Chief of Staff for Chairman Carr's office, managing policy and strategic initiatives directly under Chairman Carr. Watson's background includes roles in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy during President Trump's administration and earlier, he worked with Congressman Steve Scalise and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Arpan Sura is appointed as Senior Counsel - Spectrum and Technology. Sura will focus on issues related to the Wireless, Space Bureaus, and the Office of Engineering and Technology. His rich experience includes significant contributions at Hogan Lovells and Sprint, along with previous government service roles.
Danielle Thumann will take up the role of Senior Counsel - Wireline, Public Safety, and Consumer Protection. Thumann returns to the FCC after a stint in the private sector dealing with telecommunications infrastructure. Her extensive experience in regulatory matters will bolster the FCC's efforts in consumer protection and public safety.
Erin Boone is designated as Senior Counsel - Media and Enforcement. Boone, who has a comprehensive background working with both the Media and Enforcement Bureaus at the FCC, brings valuable insights from her previous positions at T-Mobile and Clearwire.
Adam Chan has been appointed as National Security Counsel, advising on all matters of national security. Chan's previous positions include working with the U.S. House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, and a legal fellowship at the DOJ's National Security Division.
Additional appointments include Anthony Patrone as Legal Advisor, Callie Coker also as Legal Advisor, Matt Mittelstaedt as Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs, Stephanie Chambless as Special Counsel in the Office of General Counsel, and Drema Johnson as Confidential Assistant to Chairman Carr.
Chairman Carr expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments, stating, "I am honored that this talented team has agreed to join me in leading the FCC. Their broad range of legal and policy expertise will be invaluable as we work to deliver great results for the American people."
