CRS Honors Mark ''Hawkeye'' Louis with Humanitarian Award
RADIO ONLINE | Thursday, January 23, 2025 |
Country Radio Seminar (CRS) 2025 is set to honor Mark "Hawkeye" Louis, the morning host from Cumulus Media's KSCS in Dallas, with the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award. This award, named in memory of the late Tom Rivers, celebrates figures in Country radio who demonstrate exceptional public service and humanitarianism.
For over two decades, Hawkeye has been a formidable presence in charitable endeavors, particularly with his sustained involvement at Cook Children's Hospital. Since 2002, he has not only contributed as a camp counselor at Camp Sanguinity for cancer patients but also served on its board from 2004 to 2006. Under his leadership, the first radiothon launched by KSCS in 2014 has, with the aid of sister KPLX, accumulated nearly $4.5 million, over $1 million of which was raised in 2023 alone.
In a remarkable personal gesture last year, Hawkeye auctioned his extensive collection of over 17,000 baseball cards, raising more than $10,000 for the hospital. His commitment extends beyond healthcare, supporting various causes including veteran initiatives like the annual 10,000 For The Troops program -- which garnered over 152,000 handmade cards in 2023 -- and Pets For Vets, which successfully raised $20,000 to train service dogs for disabled veterans.
Additionally, as an active board member of the Dallas Marathon, his efforts also support the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, underscoring his broad philanthropic impact.
The Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award will be formally presented to Hawkeye during the New Faces of Country Music Show at CRS 2025, with limited tickets still available.
Further enhancing the CRS 2025 lineup, Elaina Smith from Westwood One's "Nights with Elaina" will return as emcee for the fifth year, adding her charm to the proceedings. The seminar will also introduce the Strings for Hope: The Unwind Experience, a new initiative aimed at promoting mindfulness and supporting trauma survivors by turning recycled instrument strings into handcrafted jewelry.
