On Wednesday evening, Virginia Beach's Three Notch'd Brewery was abuzz as legendary rock radio personality Mike Arlo who marked a significant milestone -- 50 years on the air in Hampton Roads. The celebration was attended by a crowd of family, friends, and prominent figures from the radio industry.

Arlo, the midday voice of Classic Rock WAFX (106.9 The Fox), has been a mainstay at the station since 1996, having started his career at sister station WNOR (FM99) back in 1975. Known by his fans simply as Arlo, he shared his feelings about the event: "It was surreal seeing so many radio people from the last half-century all in one place. I am grateful to my friends, family, and colleagues, both past and present, for celebrating with me. They say if you love what you do, you don't work a day in your life, and I quit working 50 years ago."

The evening was filled with tributes and accolades as peers and proteges took turns to honor Arlo's five-decade career. Carol Commander, General Manager of Hampton Roads Media Group which includes 106.9 The Fox and FM99, reflected on Arlo's enduring impact: "The evening was nothing short of spectacular, brimming with heartfelt tributes, admiration, and well-deserved awards as we came together to celebrate the remarkable Mike Arlo and his 50-year milestone on our airwaves. Working alongside Mike has been an honor, and it was a privilege to recognize his immense contributions to our community, our listeners, and our team over the past five decades."
