The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) has announced the winners of the landmark 50th Annual Gracie Awards. This golden anniversary celebrates half a century of significant contributions by women in media and sets a forward-looking agenda for diversity and empowerment in the industry. The awards gala is scheduled for May 20 at the Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, with actress, comedian, and podcaster Fortune Feimster hosting the prestigious event.
This year's roster of honorees includes prominent figures such as Cristin Milioti, Megan Thee Stallion, and Mayim Bialik, among others, who will be celebrated for their roles in redefining the media landscape. Notable projects like Descendants: The Rise of Red and Dune: Prophecy also feature among the awarded works, showcasing the dynamic and diverse nature of modern storytelling. Additionally, local and student award winners will be recognized in a special Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 18 at Cipriani's in New York City.
Becky Brooks, President of AWMF, highlighted the enduring significance of the Gracie Awards in her statement. "For 50 years, the Gracie Awards have celebrated storytellers who push boundaries and champion inclusion," said Brooks. "These women have not only shaped our current media landscape but are also defining the future, ensuring that our stories are not just seen and heard, but felt and remembered."
The Gracie Awards have historically honored a host of trailblazers, including Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, and Michelle Obama, emphasizing the awards' commitment to recognizing transformative figures in media. This year's event promises to continue this tradition, featuring an all-female production team from Do Great Projects and Mythical Creators, with Kristin Whalley at the helm as Executive Producer.
Adding to the festivities, Fortune Feimster is set to bring her unique energy and humor to the gala. Feimster is currently on her U.S. comedy tour and will soon appear in the second season of the Netflix comedy Fubar, as well as voice a character in the awaited sequel Zootopia 2.
