San Diego Alternative XTRA-FM (91X) promotes longtime staffer Hilary Doneux to Brand Manager and welcomes back Marty Whitney to morning drive. The changes come as current Program Director Garett Michaels departs to become General Manager of KSER (90.7 FM) in Everett, WA. While stepping down from day-to-day duties, Michaels will continue contributing to 91X in a consulting role.
Hilary Doneux, who has worn multiple hats at 91X -- including Assistant Program Director, Music Director, and afternoon host -- is stepping into her new leadership position with deep roots in the station.
"For a Southern California kid who started on 91X back in 1997, I am humbled, honored, and SO stoked to get the opportunity to steer this legendary ship!" Doneux said. "Joining the list of incredible programmers who've helped shape 91X for 40 years fills me with gratitude (and butterflies)."
Gregg Wolfson, President and General Manager of parent company Local Media San Diego, praised both appointments. "Hilary has earned the promotion to Brand Manager and will do an amazing job moving 91X forward," said Wolfson. "Likewise, we will be bringing Marty back home to host 91X mornings where he belongs. I'm excited for 91X's position as one of the leading and most influential alternative rock stations ever."
Marty Whitney's return to mornings marks a homecoming for the veteran host, adding a familiar voice to kick off 91X's daily programming as the station moves into a new chapter under Doneux's leadership.
