Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) has opened applications for the fourth annual Speak Up! Mentorship Program, a year-long leadership initiative created in partnership with Media Staffing Network. Applications are being accepted through Friday, August 28.
Established in honor of the late Laurie Kahn, founder of Media Staffing Network and a longtime advocate for women in broadcasting, the program is designed to support women working at small- and medium-market radio stations across all departments. One participant will be selected to receive personalized mentorship from MIW's network of female broadcast executives, along with executive coaching from Media Staffing Network's certified coaches.
Since its debut in 2023, Speak Up! has become one of MIW's signature leadership programs, helping emerging women leaders build professional relationships, strengthen leadership skills and gain the confidence to advance their careers.
"As Speak Up! enters its fourth year, we're incredibly proud of the impact this program continues to have on women across our industry," MIW President Sheila Kirby said. "Honoring Laurie Kahn's legacy means creating opportunities for women to grow as leaders, build meaningful relationships, and gain the confidence to pursue the next step in their careers."
Media Staffing Network President Lisa Fields said the program reflects Kahn's belief in investing in people by connecting emerging leaders with experienced mentors who can provide guidance and encouragement during pivotal points in their careers.
Past recipients include Presleigh Bearden, Social Media Manager and On-Air Personality for iHeartMedia's Little Rock and Fayetteville, AR markets (2025); Jessica Williams, National Adult Contemporary Host and Community Outreach Director for Townsquare Media in Rochester, MN (2024); and Mary Zukin, Senior Sales & Marketing Executive at Iliad Media Group in Idaho (2023).
