David Felker, a longtime figure in network radio, has exited Westwood One following the company's recent consolidation and downsizing efforts. Felker's departure ends a 38-year tenure that began when he joined the network in 1987, back when it operated as Transtar.
Over nearly four decades, Felker played a key role as the network evolved through multiple ownership and branding changes, including UniStar, Dial Global, and ultimately Westwood One under Cumulus Media. Starting in syndicated programming, he advanced through various roles including music director, program director, operations manager, and eventually vice president of programming.
Felker began his career in local Los Angeles radio in 1978 before moving to the national stage. Reflecting on his departure, Felker said, "I couldn't have asked for a better run in the business, working with so many talented, creative, and professional employees, co-workers, and friends."
