WNYC/Gothamist has announced that Gabrielle Jones will join its newsroom as Director of Digital News and Audience, effective July 1. In her new role, she will collaborate across WNYC's newsroom, radio shows, and other platforms to grow digital audiences on Gothamist.com, the WNYC app, newsletters, and social media. She will also spearhead efforts to innovate storytelling and expand the station's digital reach across the New York City region.
Jones currently serves as Vice President of Content at Louisville Public Media (LPM), where she oversees local news, music programming, podcasts, and the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. During her tenure, she also served as LPM's interim co-CEO prior to the arrival of Kenya Young.
She previously held editorial and audience roles at KERA in Dallas and worked in multiple departments-including fundraising, digital, and news -- at VPM Media, Virginia's PBS and NPR affiliate.
A graduate of North Carolina Central University, Jones also holds a master's degree from American University in Washington, D.C.
"She's clearly a rising star in our industry," said a WNYC statement. "Her ability to work collaboratively across departments will be an asset to the organization."
