Brandon "Shaggy" Stokes, the longtime morning host on WNVZ (Z104) in Norfolk, was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly attempting to drive through an active crime scene while intoxicated, according to multiple news reports and police statements.

The incident occurred around 9:30am on Honeygrove Road, where Virginia Beach Police were investigating an earlier officer-involved shooting at a nearby storage facility. Police say Stokes, 43, drove up to the scene and insisted he be allowed through, claiming he owned property nearby. Stokes is the owner of the Haygood Skating Center, located adjacent to the area under investigation.

Despite multiple warnings from officers, Stokes reportedly refused to leave, becoming belligerent and using profanity, according to arrest reports. One officer noted that Stokes' speech was slurred and incoherent, and that he showed visible signs of intoxication. A breath test later revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.18 - more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Virginia.

Stokes was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and obstruction of justice. Police emphasized that the arrest is unrelated to the earlier shooting incident being investigated at the scene.

Audacy, the parent company of Z104, declined to comment on the incident.
