LM Communications Media is reintroducing WCOO (105.5 The Bridge) in Charleston, SC with a renewed focus on "authentic, local programming" that highlights the culture and character of the Lowcountry. Known for its eclectic musical style, 105.5 The Bridge is leaning further into its identity with a format that blends American roots genres -- contemporary folk, bluegrass, indie rock, alt-country, beach music, and even Gullah influences.
The AAA outlet positions itself not only as a music outlet but as "a love letter to the Lowcountry," according to Program Director Gabe Reynolds. "We're not chasing trends or algorithms, we're chasing truth," Reynolds said. "This is about real music, real voices, and real connections."
The station continues to evolve while honoring its heritage, including the return of "The Critic," a staple voice on The Bridge, now heard weekdays from 3-7pm.
Billed as "Authentic, Weird, Wonderful, Fiercely Independent and Hyper Local," WCOO's mission is to reflect Charleston rather than simply serve it. LM Communications describes the new 105.5 The Bridge as both "raw and real," a literal and symbolic bridge between radio's past and its community-focused future.
