Bob Holder, a longtime Lehigh Valley sports radio personality best known for his "After Further Review" shows, has died at the age of 62 -- reports The Morning Call. A 1980 graduate of Whitehall High School, Holder spent 25 years in local broadcasting, most recently hosting a Saturday morning program on WAEB-AM (News Radio 790) in Allentown.
Craig Stevens, Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia's Allentown, Reading, Wilmington & Atlantic City region, remembered Holder as a fiery but beloved presence. "He was the kind of guy who loved to stir the pot, in the best way. If the Phillies were on fire, he'd argue they were overrated. But he always made you laugh while doing it. That was Bob - never afraid to challenge, always ready to debate."
Holder himself often spoke of how unexpectedly radio changed his life. In a social media post last month, he recalled hearing a commercial while driving a Frito Lay truck in 1998 that inspired him to pursue broadcasting. "I parked the truck, made the call, had an interview, and never looked back. Listening to the radio changed my life. I'm so glad I was tuned in," he wrote.
Over the years, Holder worked at several Lehigh Valley stations, becoming a familiar and sometimes provocative voice to local listeners. In a 2012 interview, he acknowledged that some saw him as a clown, but said he only ever aimed to entertain: "The media is my love, and on-air is my talent."
