Champlin Broadcasting and Chisholm Trail Broadcasting appoint veteran broadcaster Bill Hurley as President and COO of both companies. Founded by Hiram H. Champlin, the two companies operate 11 radio outlets serving listeners from Enid to Oklahoma City. Champlin emphasized the importance of local leadership in Oklahoma radio, noting that Hurley's decades of experience and state roots made him a strong fit for the role.
"As a fourth-generation Oklahoman, I've always believed radio should be built and led by people who truly know and care about our state," said Champlin. "Bill Hurley not only grew up here, but he also brings decades of experience in radio that make him uniquely qualified to strengthen our stations and better serve our communities."
Hurley has nearly 40 years of experience in radio management. A native of Oklahoma City, he most recently served as Managing Partner of TeamRadio Marketing Group in Stillwater, operators of "Triple Play Sports Radio." He also led iHeartMedia's Oklahoma City market for over 13 years and previously held leadership roles with Newmarket Media, Regent Communications, and other companies in Utah, Arizona, California, and Illinois. He is a past Chairman and board member of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.
"I'm thrilled to join Hiram and the team to grow a network that truly serves our local communities," Hurley said. "Small businesses in Oklahoma often get overshadowed by national consolidation-but that doesn't have to be the case. Together, we'll expand heritage stations like News/Talk Freedom 96.9 and Country The Wolf 99.7 into platforms that champion the businesses and voices that make our region unique and resilient."
Champlin Broadcasting's Oklahoma City stations include Conservative Talk KQOB (Freedom 96.9) and Classic Country KWFF (99.7 The Wolf). Chisholm Trail Broadcasting, headquartered in Enid, operates AC KXLS (Mix 95.7), Classic Rock KHRK (97.7 The Hawk), Classic Country KWOF (106.3 The Wolf), Country 107.1 KNID, Sports "CTB Sports" 1390 KCRC/1640 KZLS, and the EnidLIVE! news platform.
