Jacobs Media and Quu have opened registration for commercial radio stations in the U.S. and Canada to participate in Techsurvey 2026, the industry's largest annual study focused on media and technology trends.
The 2025 edition, fielded in January and February, included 500 participating stations across North America and generated more than 24,000 responses. Eight formats were represented, offering a broad look at listener behavior across music and spoken-word brands.
Over the years, Techsurvey has helped broadcasters track major digital shifts, including AI awareness, smart speaker adoption, voice technology usage, demand for on-demand audio and video, in-dash entertainment trends, and the increasing dominance of YouTube.
For 2026, Jacobs Media will again deliver format-specific insights across eight to ten qualifying formats, helping stations compare their audiences with national norms. The study will continue trending key metrics on device ownership, media consumption, on-demand habits, push notifications, newsletters, YouTube usage, and short-form video across age, gender, and ethnicity.
New areas of exploration will include local visibility, contest engagement, expected concert attendance, merchandise purchasing, updated dashboard usage for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and preferred podcast platforms.
"For more than two decades, Techsurvey has been the largest and most important survey in commercial radio," said Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs. "This year's highly anticipated Techsurvey 2026 will provide new trending data to understand massive shifts in broadcast and digital consumption."
"Techsurvey has long been the gold standard for understanding the trends and technologies shaping radio's future," added Quu CEO Steve Newberry, noting the companies' shared commitment to delivering meaningful insights to broadcasters.
Techsurvey 2026 will field in January. Stations have until Friday, December 19 to register. Information on logistics, fees, and participation is available here.
