AdLarge and the fwd. network announced that the podcast National Park After Dark has joined its growing roster of women-led shows, expanding the network's collection of true crime programming.
Hosted by Danielle LaRock and Cassie Yahnian, National Park After Dark explores the darker side of America's national parks. Each week, the show examines true crime cases, mysterious disappearances, and historical tragedies that occurred within some of the country's most well-known public lands.
LaRock's interest in dark history began during a formative visit to Yellowstone National Park, while Yahnian traces her connection to the outdoors to experiences in Yosemite. Both hosts grew up surrounded by the wilderness of New Hampshire, an environment they say helped shape their appreciation for natural landscapes and the potential dangers they can hold.
The podcast differentiates itself in the crowded true crime category by focusing specifically on incidents that occur in remote park settings, from isolated trails to campgrounds, where expansive landscapes can both inspire and conceal danger.
"We've always been drawn toward the stories people don't expect to hear from these places," LaRock said. "There's beauty in national parks, but there's also real history and sometimes that history is dark."
"We want listeners to understand that these landscapes hold complex human stories," Yahnian added. "The wild is powerful, and it deserves curiosity and respect."
Cathy Csukas, CEO of AdLarge and founder of fwd., said the show's distinctive storytelling perspective aligns with the network's focus on elevating creator voices. She noted that the hosts have built an engaged audience and that the partnership will help expand the podcast's reach while connecting brands with its listener community.
